"I don't have a location we can use!"
This one is actually mildly insulting to me, because it suggests I'm not creative enough to handle whatever you can throw at me! And believe me, I TOTALLY AM!!
I'm going to cut right to the chase here & suggest that I can shoot anywhere. I'm a wedding photographer, and you have to learn really quickly to make do with whatever is thrown at you. So bring it!!
Here are some of my tips for making boudoir photography a reality in your life, if you didn't think you had a place to photograph in:
- 1. Use your own home. This might be a "Duh!" for some, but I can really easily use your own location to make fabulous photos! Plus I think this is The Best location for someone who might be a little nervous already! Your own territory helps calm those nerves. I bring my own lighting, plus use what is available to me- so clean up your room and call me!! (574-527-7405!)
- 2. Use a friend's home. The plus side here is you will probably easily be able to convince your friend to hang out during the session- which is not only double the fun, but it also means you'll have someone there to help with the nerves!
- 3. Rent a hotel room. If you're booking a session & going all out with hair and makeup, a hotel room might be a perfect match for you! It's also a great way to keep things a secret! Some hotels even offer discounts if you only use a room for a few hours, so you might score a great location AND a great deal at the same time!
- 4. The Great Outdoors! Ok, so there are some limitations to what we can legally shoot outside, but there is something super sexy about the soft green of summer paired with lacy lingerie! Really a must if you are on the daring side!
I hope this gives you some ideas of how you could set up your own session soon! Next week we will cover the one question no one asks, but is always there in the back of their mind- how to afford boudoir!! Don't miss it!!
And be sure to check out last week's post: "I don't have anything to wear!"
